Subjects

We begin with studying the formal elements of art equipping students early on with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design.

Students are introduced to several modern and contemporary artists as well as art movements throughout history and are encouraged to analyse and imitate art techniques in their own work. As art students progress on to the 2 year GCSE course at the beginning of year 10, they should be able to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of art and design as well as make more independent and personalised decisions and choices with media.
