Examination Performance

The Matthew Arnold School is pleased to share the results achieved in the 2022 GCSE examination series. These results follow a challenging time for our children after an extended period of disrupted learning. Credit should be given to the attitude they exhibited and the excellent work that was put in. Students, staff, and parents are rightly proud of what has been achieved.

The were exceptional performances across the cohort; however, the following students must be mentioned:

  • Attainment: Fiona Manning, Abigail Walls, James Keefe, Sambridi Limbu, Tilly Gilmore
  • Progress: Oliver Butson, Chloe Wolsoncroft, Ellie White, Hadley Dyer

Government Measures

Given the uneven impact of the pandemic on school and college performance data, the government has said you should not make direct comparisons between the performance data for one school or college and another, or to data from previous years.

For a full explanation of all the factors affecting these results please see the KS4 and 16-18 2021/22 technical guides.

Individual school and college data should be used with caution. It reflects a school or college’s results in 2021/22 but cannot provide information about the factors which may have influenced these results.

When forming a view of how well the school or college is doing, you should consider a range of different information sources, for example, discussing with the school or college directly, the school or college website, Ofsted reports, friends, and family.
