Admissions Overview

Thank you for considering The Matthew Arnold School for the next step in your child's education. Our full admissions arrangements can be viewed by following this link: Policies and Statutory Information - Admission Arrangements tab.

Entry for Year 7 in September 2024

The Matthew Arnold School will be admitting 196 pupils into Year 7 in September 2024. Application to The Matthew Arnold School is via Surrey Education Admissions service who co-ordinate our applications.

The closing date for applications is: 31st October 2023

National Offer Day is: 1st March 2024

Please view our admissions policy/admissions arrangements for all details about our selection criteria, over-subscribed criteria, admissions number and admissions arrangements for disabled students.

In-Year Admissions

In-year admission applications are those that are made to join an existing year group within the school.

The Local Governing Committee will consider the application in line with the School Admissions Code 2021 and aims to respond to applicants within 10 school days of the application being received, but within a maximum of 15 days.

To apply for an in-year school place, please complete this online form with Surrey County Council. We will then contact you to confirm receipt of your application and add you to our waiting list.

If a place becomes available, we will contact you and organise for you to meet with our Headteacher.

Tours of the School

Our Open Evenings have now taken place and no further tours of the school are available. Because most of our Year Groups are full, with active waiting lists, we do not offer tours until a place is offered at the school.

Appeals

As its own Admissions Authority The Matthew Arnold School delegates this role to the Surrey Schools Appeal Service. All appeals will be handled in accordance with the School Admission Appeals Code.

Today we united in reflection to remember the service and sacrifice of those who fought for our freedom. We remember all those affected by and suffering because of conflict. Lest we forget… pic.twitter.com/ogGInoHEno— The Matthew Arnold School (@TMA_School) November 10, 2023
