Year 7 boys 2-1 win over St Pauls.

After eagerly awaiting their first school football match, the boys were excited to start.

Matthew Arnold started well creating several chances with speed in attack. This paid dividends as we went 1-0 up through a well worked move with Harry K the scorer. Shortly after a penalty was awarded to Matthew Arnold as a late tackle brought Xave down. Unfortunately, the penalty was saved and the score remained 1-0. St Pauls started to attack towards the end of the first half, receiving a free kick just outside the penalty box. A beautifully struck free kick went into the top corner, making it 1-1 just before half time.

The second half was a well thought out contest with teams battling hard, however, Matthew Arnold pushed on and created several chances. Late on, we scored (didn’t get scorer, think Harvey C) with a well worked goal with 1 and 2 touch football to secure the win and the 7’s first win representing the school.

The boys represented the school fantastically, but a special shout-out goes to Xave M who put a spectacular performance in centre midfield, winning everywhere ball and just putting himself about.
