Schools reopening - Wednesday updatePosted on: 2021-02-24
I have written to parents today informing them of my plans to return all students to school from Monday 8th March. My letter is also available to view here.
I have kept the government's key aims below and will be publishing more information over the course of the next few days.
- All students to return from Monday 8th March
- All secondary school students will be offered an initial programme of 3 COVID-19 tests as they return to the classroom. Schools will have discretion on how to phase the return of their students over the week beginning 8 March to allow them to be tested on return.
- After these initial 3 tests in school, students will be provided with two rapid tests to use each week at home. Secondary school staff will also continue to be provided with two tests to use each week at home.
- Students and staff to wear face coverings in classrooms as well as all communal areas of the school
I would like to reassure parents and children that whatever the final shape of the reopening of Matthew Arnold takes, our primary aim will be to support our students - to ascertain and address their worries before they return during online learning, as well as to acknowledge that coming back is not the end of the journey, but the beginning of the next stage. This stage is one where students will need a huge amount of support to reacclimatise, no matter what their year group.
