NHS COVID-19 App - no change to mobile phone policy

Posted on: 2020-09-27

The government published details of its NHS COVID-19 App designed to supplement the NHS Test and Trace programme. This App is available to anyone aged 16 and over.  The government does not feel that it is appropriate that younger students use this app and they are therefore not eligible. We will not be changing our existing phone policy for the small number of students who are eligible because we already have a system in place which traces any suspected or confirmed cases in school.

Although students under 16 are not eligible to download the app, I would expect that some of them will have managed to download it, particularly those who use public transport. Any notifications that they receive on the way to school should be reported immediately to a member of staff.

I would expect that the majority of my staff would download and use the app. We will also have a QR code in Reception which will be used in addition to the questionnaire we require all visitors to  the school to complete.
