GCSE Results Summer 2020Posted on: 2020-08-21
On Thursday, 20th August 2020 our Year 11 students received their GCSE results, marking the end of the most turbulent year in education in recent memory, if not ever. It is to the credit of all our students, and indeed of students nationally, that they put up with the unavoidable disruption to exams caused by the coronavirus and the entirely avoidable fiasco over gradings on the part of the government with such maturity.
Despite the disruption, we are delighted that our students have been awarded the grades they deserve; we say goodbye to them with full hearts and every hope and expectation of success in the next stages of their education.
We would like to mention by name our highest achieving students, who are:
- Neve Crossley and Megan White, closely followed by Emma Thorne and Tom Appleby
And those students who made the most progress:
- Neve Crossley and Charlotte Enderby, closely followed by Maddison Denny and Ollie Keefe
These achievements are the reward for quiet dedication, resilience in the face of adversity and commitment to sheer hard work over their years in primary and secondary education.
Normally schools would share with you school performance data, including pass rates and subject performance measures. This year, however, the Spelthorne Secondary Schools are in agreement that due to these unusual circumstances it is not the right time for us to share this data and our combined focus should be on the community of young people we serve.
