The Matthew Arnold School - Part of the Bourne Education Trust
These are exciting times for The Matthew Arnold School. From September 2014 the school has been run by an experienced team dedicated to bringing about a rapid transformation in the school now that it has joined the Bourne Education Trust, a Surrey-based multi-academy trust led by Epsom and Ewell High School. The results of this transformation were evident in the dramatically-improved GCSE results the school acheived in 2016.
The leadership of the school is as follows:
Mr Russell has been a headteacher for ten years, overseeing the turnaround of three schools during that time. He took over Epsom and Ewell High School in 2009 and completely transformed the school taking it from special measures to good in the first nine months of his headship. Epsom and Ewell High School is now a national support school and Mr Russell a national leader of education. Mr Russell will be working at The Matthew Arnold School for two days a week for the next academic year.
Head of School:
Mrs Gould is a very experienced senior leader and a key part of the leadership team that brought about the transformation at Epsom and Ewell High School. She has also been a significant member of the Bourne Education Trust’s school-to-school support team over the last two years and is an outstanding practitioner. Mrs Gould made an immediate impact upon being appointed Head of School, and has built up strong leadership at all levels of the school. She works full-time at the school.
