The Matthew Arnold School - Part of the Bourne Education Trust
New leadership in place at the school
These are exciting times for The Matthew Arnold School. From September 2014 the school will be run by an experienced team dedicated to bringing about a rapid transformation in the school now that it has joined the Bourne Education Trust, a Surrey-based multi-academy trust led by Epsom and Ewell High School.
The leadership team will be as follows:
Executive Headteacher: Alex Russell
Mr Russell has been a headteacher for ten years, overseeing the turnaround of three schools during that time. He took over Epsom and Ewell High School in 2009 and completely transformed the school taking it from special measures to good in the first nine months of his headship. Epsom and Ewell High School is now a national support school and Mr Russell a national leader of education. Mr Russell will be working at The Matthew Arnold School for three days a week for the next academic year.
Executive Headteacher: James Kibble
Mr Kibble has been a headteacher for eight years and has led Salesian School from being a middle-ranking school to one of the highest-performing schools in the country. In September 2013 it was graded as outstanding in all categories by Ofsted. In 2014 it was awarded both teaching school and national support school status and Mr Kibble was appointed a national leader of education. Mr Kibble will be working at The Matthew Arnold School for two days per week for the next academic year.
Acting Headteacher: Mary Gould
Mrs Gould is a very experienced senior leader and a key part of the leadership team that bought about the transformation at Epsom and Ewell High School. She has also been a significant member of the Bourne Education Trust’s school-to-school support team over the last two years and is an outstanding practitioner. Mrs Gould has made an immediate impact since being appointed as acting head in June 2014. She will be working full-time at the school.
