Y7 Girls' Football

On Wednesday evening our Year 7 girls continued their fantastic season with a 5-1 win over St. Paul’s!

Short of several regulars,  we travelled to St. Paul’s with the bare minimum squad and one of our front line defenders stepping in to keep goal. Good early pressure by the midfield trio of Dolcie, Amber and Denisa lead to St. Paul’s conceding an own goal with barely a quarter of the game gone. The MAS girls continued to press well and when the pressure did come on both Phoebe and Ellee cleared the lines excellently. A fantastic long range strike from Denisa then opened up a 2-0 half time lead for Matthew Arnold. Immediate pressure after the break from Denisa and striker Mia led to a corner, which resulted in a first goal for Amber placed excellently past the St. Paul’s keeper. St. Paul’s struck back almost instantly, a long ball headed downfield from a throw in was never cleared and despite their best efforts MAS conceded their only goal of the game.

With 15 minutes left in the game MAS turned it up a notch, a fabulous save from new keeper Daisy keeping the score at 3-1 before Amber scored again to open up a 3 goal lead. The deficit proved too much for St. Paul’s to claw back and late pressure again led to a goal for Amber, rounding off a well taken hat-trick!

Final score: MAS 5 – 1 St. Paul’s.

Well done on an amazing team performance!
