Year 8 Careers Event

Year 8 Careers Event

The year 8 careers day on February 27th where the students experienced interactive sessions with local colleges, universities and local businesses was a great success. All of our external contributors commented on the mature behaviour of our students and said that they had very much enjoyed being here. We could not have had such a wonderful event without the support of the following people:

Balfour Beatty, BP, British Airways, Brooklands College, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, HEON (Higher Education Outreach Network), Innervate Careers Service, McDonalds, Metro Bank, OMNI Beauty Academy, Premier Modelling Agency, RAF (Royal Air Force), Romans Estate Agents, Strode’s College, Surrey Fire Service and White Lodge Children’s Centre.

The students were asked to fill out an evaluation form after the event and below are some of their comments.

“It helped me so much, I feel like this is the start of my journey.”

“I really enjoyed the careers fair, it has helped me to visualise what I want for my future.”

“I liked having the opportunity to talk to businesses about their jobs.”

“It was so informative, it has eased things that I was worrying about.”

“It gave me a lot of information and it was very motivating. I found the day so much fun and really enjoyed communicating with people who worked in certain industries.”

“The day was exciting and interesting; I now understand what an apprenticeship is.”

“I now understand that a GCSE is level 2 and after year 11 I will go on to A-levels and this will be studying at level 3.”

“Thank you! The day has helped me so much, I am now super confident with what I want to do with my life.”

“I found the day so productive, please can we do it again?”

We as a school are very proud of year 8 and their positive attitude to this part of their school career.
