Apply to be a Year 9 Young Leader

We are looking to appoint 30 Young Leaders in Year 9. The role of a young leader here at The Matthew Arnold School is to work with our local Primary School children.

It may be on a sports activity when we invite year 5 children in to us. It may be going out to a primary school to help deliver science experiments or sports days. It may be being part of our transition days in the summer term.

What makes a good young leader?

  • Being organised
  • Being a great listener
  • Being kind and understanding
  • Having a good sense of humour
  • Enjoying being part of a team
  • Having the ability to see that these children aged 8 to 11 will really look up to you; they will want to act as you do. So you need to be a good role model and set a good example.

What’s in it for you?

  • You will be given training for the role so that you are confident in our expectations
  • It’s great to add to your prefect application in year 10 and really good for CVs and college applications too
  • Most importantly you will feel good knowing that you have helped to inspire those younger than you.

To apply you will need to write a short letter of application to Mrs Lyde. The closing date is 10th November 2017.

Students can see Mrs Lyde in her room at break time if they want to know more or need tips on applying!
