Annual Careers Events

We always look forward to National Careers Week and our annual Careers Fair with a diverse range of employers and recruiters from all sorts of industries as well as higher education providers who we are proud to have strong links with.

What other curriculum opportunities will you have in school to help prepare you for your next steps in the future?


Year 11  

  • College application and CV Workshops  

Throughout Year 11, during PSHE lessons additional time will be given to support students with their applications to further education. This includes preparation and help with CV and personal statement writing from industry professionals as well as preparation for interviews and professional meetings.  

  • One-to-one Careers Guidance  

Students will continue to meet with our independent careers advisor and create their own personalised action plans ensuring that before they leave our care everyone would have received one-to-one personalised careers advice. 


Year 10  

  • Careers Week  

Students will experience talks and activities from various industries connected to their GCSE choices and have opportunities to meet and discuss LMI with industry professionals. 

  • One-to-one Careers Guidance  

Students will receive an individual one-to-one impartial career advice meeting with our external provider, Innervate. In this meeting they will be able to discuss the options available to them as well as possible avenues that they might not have otherwise considered. 

  • College and sixth form experience events  

Throughout the year, students will be provided with various opportunities to experience days at providers of further education in the local area, including sixth form, college and universities. 


Year 9  

  • Brilliant Club  

Brilliant Club is an external provision provided in conjunction with the school that sees student applying to take part in a scheme that introduces university as a potential, but also unexplored options post-18. As well as working with a PhD researcher on a topical research project. 

  • Curriculum Careers Focus  

This will see a focus on students receiving additional lessons in all of their subjects with a focus on careers within their own specific area of the curriculum, this is in anticipation of their GCSE option choices that will be made later on in the year. 


Year 8  

  • Spring Term Curriculum Careers Sessions  

The spring term will see a focus on students receiving additional lessons in all of their subjects with a focus on careers within their own specific area of the curriculum, this is delivered by the class teacher, coordinated by the Heads of Department in conjunction with our Careers Leader. 


Year 7  

  • Spring Term Curriculum Careers Sessions  

The spring term will see a focus on students receiving additional lessons in all of their subjects with a focus on careers within specific areas of the curriculum, this is delivered by the class teacher, coordinated by the Heads of Department in conjunction with our Careers Leader.
